Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland Covid-19 Impact Report: Spotlight on civil society organisations supporting ethnic minority and newly arrived communities

At the end of 2020, Together Middlesbrough & Cleveland (TM&C) commissioned us to conduct research on the impact of Covid-19 on faith-based and community organisations across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland. This report shines a light on organisations supporting ethnic minority and newly arrived communities.

CSC and TM&C felt it was important to collaborate on this report because ethnic minority and newly arrived communities have been disproportionately affected by virus, and there is a unique set of social factors compounding this in Middlesbrough.

As well as highlighting the impact of Covid-19 on several ethnic minority-led or focused groups, the report o aims highlight the main challenges going forward for the community, the organisations supporting them, and the sector as a whole. It also presents recommendations and practical solutions to address some of the emerging challenges, many coming from the community, targeted at organisations themselves, local infrastructure organisations and local statutory bodies.
