Embedding Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) principles into GMCVO's work

Supportive Resource
GMCVO drives socio-economic inclusion in Greater Manchester, working to enlarge and strengthen the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. For example, GMCVO invests in social businesses and trading charities and supports policy makers to understand the needs and potential of local community organisations.
For obvious reasons, GMCVO needs to embed Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) principles into its work in order to be able to drive socio-economic inclusion. So GMCVO is on a journey to do so. Having joined the Diversity Forum in December 2022, the organisation has already started its work on the first year’s tasks, such as creating an EDIB steering committee and introducing mandatory EDIB training for all staff.
To drive this work forward with the care and attention it requires, GMCVO sought our support, as independent experts and facilitators.
Our Approach
CSC is delighted to be working with the knowledgeable and collaborative team of people on the EDIB Steering Committee, who are all authentic, committed individuals that are thinking deeply about the key issues. We’ll be channelling our support through this committee: we’re here as a resource, to facilitate rather than lead.
Impact
There are three key areas of work we’re driving forward:
We're working with the committee to build consensus around key EDIB commitments, which will be formulated into a manifesto.
In so doing, we’re establishing the steering committee, and coaching its development into a functioning group.
With the steering committee in full swing, we’ll then be reviewing policies, frameworks and systems.
